3rd Annual Halloween Extravaganza


All ages will enjoy this event! Doors will open at 5:00 pm with cookie decorating, snacks, crafts, games, snacks and more. The movie will begin at 7:00 pm on the big screen. Our movie feature of the night will be Monster House. Bring your family, blankets or chairs and enjoy the movie. Bleachers will also be available.

2017 Trick or Treat throughout Marshalltown will be Tuesday, October 31, from 5:30 - 7:00 pm.

Tot-Town

Tot-Town is an indoor playground for children 2-5 years old. Climbers, riding toys, balls and room for running are available. Adults must actively supervise the children they bring.
Please carry in clean dry shoes.
This program is free with no advance enrollment or fee!

Winter Blast

Know someone in Kindergarten through 6th grade who needs or wants something to do during Winter Break? Come spend time with us! Numerous activities are planned, such as bowling, swimming, sledding and much more. We want kids to come have fun with us! Any child may attend one or all the dates.

Indoor Soccer


An instructional recreational league for boys and girls in grades K-8 (Divisions are grades K-1; 2-3; 4-6; 7-8). This program will teach the fundamentals of this sport providing lots of playing time and fun for each child. Each player is assigned a team.

Please consider being a Volunteer Coach. Coaches are needed and appreciated!
Practices will be scheduled (based on participant and coach availability (Monday - Friday, 5-6, 6-7 or 7-8 pm)) one evening each week, beginning the week of January 22.

Games: Saturdays, February 3 - March 10 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum
When enrolling please indicate willingness to coach, if there a sibling is also enrolling, Division (grades K-1; 2-3; 4-6; 7-8) days/times NOT available to practice (Monday - Friday, 5-6:00; 6-7:00; 7-8:00 pm), and shirt size.

Preschool Sports Development


This indoor sports program, for 3-5 year olds, aids parents to help their child develop gross motor skills such as throwing, catching, kicking and batting. Swim Lessons


Red Cross guidelines are followed for our swim lessons. Specific details for each Swim Lesson Levels may be viewed here. Testing is done the first day of class to a help assure participants are in the level best suited for learning. Class sizes are limited and may be combined or cancelled due to low enrollment. Children may be moved into different classes based on skill level. Parks and Recreation will not issue refunds if dates cannot be made up due to weather conditions, acts of God or Aquatic Center availability. Summer Blast Day Camp

For youth entering grades 1-6
Youth join Summer Blast friends for this camp with fun activities and opportunities, led by experienced staff to have a BLAST! Camp days begin and end at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, with many off-site activities throughout the day. Morning activities will include arts and crafts, recreation, games, library visits, character education, and free time to read and play. Afternoons are filled with swimming at the Marshalltown Family Aquatic Center Tuesday & Thursday afternoons and out of town field trips Wednesdays. The Summer School Lunch Program is utilized, when available. Children must bring their lunch when the Summer School Lunch Program is not provided (after August 11, 2017). This is a registered daycare, which accepts Iowa Child Care Assistance. Weekly Minimum 20/Maximum 75. This is not a daily drop in provider.

Camp Marshalltown Day Camp

Special Needs Day Camp
This camp is uniquely designed for school age kids in the Marshall County area, (ages 5 - 21, if still in high school) who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, such as downs syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, ODD, OCD, or many others. A variety of activities are planned throughout the summer, including crafts, card and board games, outside games and physical activity, bowling, swimming at the Aquatic Center twice a week, and field trips. A 1 staff to 4 participant ratio is provided by staff certified in medication, CPR and First Aid. Lunch is provided through the school summer lunch program, when available. Participants must bring their lunch when school lunches are not provided. This program is made possible, in part, with funding through Marshall County ARC and United Way.

Live Wires

For boys and girls 3 - 5 years old

Live Wires is for boys and girls ages 3 - 5, who have not yet attended kindergarten. The morning is filled with stories, crafts, music, snacks and games. This program provides a perfect way to play, create and socialize with others in their age range. Participants must be age 3 by the first day of class and toilet trained. Class size is limited so enroll early! Participants: Minimum 8/Maximum 24 in each class.

Please complete the Participant Information Sheet to help make this a great experience for your child and return it to the Parks and Recreation office prior to the first class.

Sparks

For boys and girls 6 - 8 years old

Children ages 6 - 8 will have their afternoon filled with games, introduction to basic sports skills, stories, crafts, snacks and a field trip that will provide great summertime fun. Sparks provides a perfect atmosphere for creative play and socialization. Participants must be age 6 by the first day of class. Class size is limited so enroll early! Participants: Minimum 8/Maximum 24 in each class.

Blastball is like t-ball but better because our base honks! Every child will get a chance to learn the fundamentals of throwing, hitting and catching and enjoy playing this fast-paced game. All equipment is provided.

Art Classes

These popular art classes offer something for everyone! There are classes designed for students entering 1st through 8th grade. This program is held in collaboration with the Marshalltown School District.

Our instructor, Lauren Williams, has an art teaching degree from UNI with emphasis in painting, drawing, ceramics and art history. This is the 7th year Lauren has been teaching in the Marshalltown school district.

Picture Perfect Primaries

(For boys and girls entering grades 1-3)

Participants will create small scale sculptures, experiment with mixed media and fiber art.

Youth lessons are offered in two sessions. Learn the basic techniques, rules and golf etiquette. Class times are spent on skills as well as playing on a real course! City Junior Golf Tournament


This recreational tournament is open for boys and girls age 18 (who have not yet graduated from High School) and younger. Ribbons or trophies will be awarded.

Two-day tournament for ages 11 and older
There are separate divisions for boys and girls in the 11 & 12, 13 & 14 and 15 - 18 age brackets.
Lunch and/or snack will be provided for golfers each day.
Participants will be called with tee times.

Tumbling / Trampoline / Gymnastics

For boys and girls 3 - 18 (who have not yet graduated from High School)

These clinics are a wonderful way to introduce your child to the sport of acrobatics, gymnastics, tumbling, and trampoline. Participants can learn basic tumbling and trampoline skills, build strength, exercise, and socialize. All participants will utilize the in-ground foam pit, in-ground trampoline, double mini trampoline, elevated rod floors, tumble trak trampoline, balance beam, uneven bars, rings, and numerous other skill building shapes and wedges. MAT provides experienced instructors who are safety certified. These clinics are in conjunction with Marshalltown Area Tumbling/Trampoline & Acrobatics whose, facility is located in the north end of the Meadow Lane Mall (by HyVee Drug Store). Live Healthy Iowa Kids Track Championships




The Live Healthy Iowa Kids Track Championship Track Meet is scheduled for Wednesday, May 9, at 5:00 pm, at the Marshalltown High School track. Pre-Registration forms are asked to be completed and submitted to the Parks and Recreation office by Noon, Wednesday, May 9. Limited last minute registration will be possible between 4:30 and 5:00 pm.

This is a FREE event!

If you are not able to participate in the Marshalltown event on May 9, a meet outside the Marshalltown location may be found at Live Healthy Iowa Track Championship website to find alternate participation dates, times and locations.

Pre-Registrations are gratefully accepted through Noon on Wednesday, May 9 at the Parks and Recreation Office (10 West State Street; Fax (641) 7564-5728 or precoffice@ci.marshalltown.ia.us).
This meet will begin at 5:00 pm. Limited on-site registration at the MHS track will begin at 4:30 pm.

This state-wide track meet is divided by gender and by ages 7-14 (as of December 31, 2018).

Events: 100, 200 and 400 meter, 4 x 100 relay (must form your own team), softball throw and standing long jump for all ages; 50 meter (age 7-8 & 9-10); 800 meter (ages 11-12 & 13-14); 1600 meter (age 13-14 only). Participants are limited to entering 3 events. First place finishers in each event automatically qualify for the State Meet held in Marshalltown.

A 50 meter and 100 meter, KIDS FUN RUN, is offered for youth under age 7 without need of preregistration!
