Marshalltown Police on the Lookout for Safe Bicycle Riders
Marshalltown Police Department staff was able to hand out 100 bike helmets donated by the Iowa Valley Bike Club to area youth over the weekend at the YMCA/YWCA Family Fair. With spring finally arriving, the Marshalltown Police Department, Iowa Valley Bicycle Club and both the N 3rd Ave and S Center St. Dairy Queens are again partnering in the “DQ Bicycle Safety Award” project.
When a Marshalltown Police Officer spots a young bicycle rider wearing his or her helmet, obeying traffic laws and riding in a safe and proper manner they will be rewarded with a DQ ticket for a free Jr. Blizzard treat.
It is the goal of everyone taking part in this project to help promote safe and responsible bicycle riding in not only the Marshalltown area but everywhere they choose to ride.
The Marshalltown Police Department and Iowa Valley Bicycle Club also want to remind motorists and cyclists that with nice weather comes the need to be watchful of one another and to share the road!
Anyone with questions about the DQ Safety Award project can contact, Captain Brian Batterson at 1.641.754.5758 or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
