Marshalltown Fire Department  responded to a garage fire at 105 ½ N. 3^rd Ave at 0158

AM on February 16, 2012.  Upon arrival the detached garage was fully engulfed. The fire was extinguished using a 2.5” handline and a 1.75” handline.  There was minor fire

damage an adjacent 2 story house and no extension into the home. The house and garage

were vacant at the time of the fire. The garage is a total loss and damage to the home is

estimated at $200.

An investigation into the fire is being conducted by the Marshalltown Fire Department’s

Fire Marshal and the State Fire Marshal’s office.

Marshalltown Fire was assisted by Marshalltown Police Department and Marshalltown

Area Paramedic Service.
